Editorial policy
Diversity. If She Cry Out respects freedom of thought, conscience and religion. We welcome articles and comments from diverse philsophies and religious systems so long as they respect the dignity of each human being and are written in a spirit of care and compassion for those who are suffering.
Representation of views. Unless otherwise noted, all articles and comments reflect the opinion of their authors and should not be regarded as statements of the views of If She Cry Out.
Content. Our news and commentary section accepts a wide range of articles reflecting the perspectives of male and female survivors of violent crime and terror – those who have lived through an attack and those who have lost someone close to them on account of an attack. Social commentary, commentary on current events, thought pieces, research summaries, artwork, poetry, music, and stories and news about survivors and their organizations or outreach projects are all welcome. We are especially interested in articles that are likely to communicate insights of value both inside and outside of the survivor community.
In addition to survivor stories, the survivor story section also accepts articles on the process of story publishing and promotion. Articles on literary, musical, artistic, and philosophical aspects of story telling are also welcome, as are stories on the experience of story telling. The purpose of this section is to explore the impact of stories, both on the story teller and those listening to him or her.
For our resources and connections section we welcome articles that help artists and other creatives. We also welcome management and technical articles that help survivors develop a strong web and organizational presence for their projects.
Submissions. If you have not submitted an article to us before, please include a short bio explaining any relevant training or experience. All submissions should include a contact email. The author should make themselves available for discussing editorial changes to an article. Both survivor and non-survivor authors are welcome.
Review policy. We’re only human, so we reserve the right to make mistakes and be totally capricious in rejecting even worthy contributions from easy to contact writers. Hopefully, that won’t happen too often. We value your willingness to share your thoughts, beliefs and experiences.
Intellectual property rights. Unless a post is produced as work for hire, contributors will retain all copyrights on their work. If you would like to reprint or cross post material from this site, please contact us. For contact information, see the Contact page.
